Sumaira Amin
Sumaira Amin, a Traditional Miniature Painter By Temperament And Art Educationist by profession is living and working in Lahore. She graduated in Miniature painting with Honors from National College of Arts (2006) and did one year diploma in Calligraphy (2007) from the same institute. Sumaira Amin is teaching at National college of Arts as an Assistant Professor and is founder of the one year miniature painting diploma program. She also conducts sessions for the preparation of drawing test for undergraduate admissions in art schools. She got special training in sign language for deaf students from Hamza Foundation Academy & Deaf Reach Training Centre, Lahore. She has arranged various gilding art activities in relation to miniature painting workshops in Pakistan, Algeria and Italy. Sumaira Amin is known for reviving Islamic heritage and culture through paintings. She has adopted a conservative approach in painting. Her work is displayed in the National Museum of Algeria (2009), National Museum of Oriental Art Rome (2016). Her work has been featured in the book entitled as “The Lahore Fort Images in Miniature” published by UNESCO (2006). She has participated in miniature painting competition in Algeria (2009) and international calligraphy competition in Iran (2010). She is the winner of the Third World Miniature Painting Competition 2009 and has participated in many group shows nationally and internationally including the ones in “Ancient Pakistan”, Islamabad (2016), “Calligraphy group show”, Islamabad (2015), “Miniature Painting group show”, Istanbul (2014, 2015).“Calligraphy Painting group show”,Canada (2017).
