Dr. Sumera Jawad

Dr. Sumera Jawad was born in Pakistan. A seasoned academician of Studio Practice in fine arts at College of Art and Design, University of The Punjab, Lahore – Pakistan.  Aa well as a practicing artist with multiple solo and group shows in Pakistan and abroad to her credit. She is very hands on in studio practice, conduction workshops to share her valuable knowledge with upcoming professionals and students of fine arts. She stays abreast of all concepts by attending residencies and workshops herself, considering herself a lifetime student of the Arts. Through her work, Sumera explores the concepts of identity and the Self, using the female form as her preferred medium. She has 12 solos at Karachi, Islamabad , lahore and three solo shows in England in different galleries on her credit. Apart from that she conducts an artist residency every with the name of Karbath since 2017. She has produced many phDs, Mphil/MFA throughout her teaching career. She still claims that she is a researcher and has written many articles in different research journals of Pakistan and abroad. According to Sumera, who holds a Ph.D. in fine arts, the level of multiculturalism and diversity to which many of us are exposed to these days has the potential to cause the discord, displacement, and division of the Self.
