Born in Mozambique, Maria Resende has a BA degree in Arts, Witwatersrand University, South Africa. 

She was a lecturer at Eduardo Mondlane University, Mozambique, teaching "Técnicas de Expressão da Língua Portuguesa ", for several years.

In Portugal, she continued her work in the educational field as a pedagogical director and later become an entrepreneur .

She has been showcasing her artworks in solo and collective exhibitions, in Portugal ( Espaço de Santa Catarina, Lisbon/ Galeria Europa-América, Lisbon/ Art Gallery D.Pedro, Oporto) .

She has participated in international exhibitions such as:
