Eqbal Mehdi
Eqbal Mehdi was born to Syed Mir Ali, in Amroha, then British India (now India) which was also the native place of Jon Elia and Sadequain.[1]He migrated to Pakistan from Amroha in the early 1960s with his family remaining in India. His brother would later join him.Eqbal Mehdi was a self-taught artist. Siraj Uddun Dehlvi was his first student from 1973. He joined Faiz Ahmed Faiz and Sibte Hassan's magazine, Lail o Nahar, and also did illustrations for another magazine, Sab Rang.Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi solo exhibit back in 1969. Eqbal Mehdi died in Karachi on 19 May 2008[4] after suffering from heart and liver disease. Eqbal Mehdi left behind a wife, a daughter and a son named Farhan.
