Fariha Mobin Karamat
I am an imaginative and creative person who wants to show my hidden inner thoughts out on canvas. Everything in nature inspires me, especially trees and branches. Another source of my inspiration is my dreams. Before going to sleep in my alpha state, images start appearing in closed eyes and somehow stored in my memory, later they appear in my paintings with some meanings or messages. When I start painting, I don't think of anything, with every stroke on canvas and paper my ideas take shape and eventually depict a picture of my subconscious mind. I am passionate about colors wherever I go and visit my eyes get attracted to unique shapes of things and colors in nature. When my mind and soul become full of ideas, my hands feel to paint and transfer these thoughts and ideas from my mind. As an abstract artist I paint on paper, canvas and textiles. I believe art is the best therapy for everyone. My goal is to inspire people to see my work and to look more closely at the world around them and find new ways of appreciating it. Being an abstract expressionist I convey my messages in my paintings. I am passionate about colors and I see shapes in almost everything, for example Rocks, mountains, trees, leaves, flowers, clouds and galaxies. They become the reference point of my creative imagination and by blending different elements of nature with my imagination, I create my paintings. I communicate my ideas through painting. The use of colors and shapes in an abstract way leads me to something meaningful on its own, which I feel is the best way to connect with others. This journey of communication between me and the viewer is a pleasurable experience for me. Before starting any painting, I check the collection of paintings and photographs for new inspirations. I don't plan anything before painting, I just start on paper or canvas and let it eventually take the shape of an abstract painting which communicates a message. At the end after looking at it, I give it a name.
