Mariyam Hanif
Mariam Hanif is a Visual Artist based in Lahore, Pakistan. She received her BFA (hons.) and MA (hons.) degree in Visual Arts from renowned National College of Arts, Lahore. Mariam has been awarded by various award and grants from her academic years, reputed as most promising and emerging young artist from Pakistan; in 2013 she was selected by Rock -e-feller grant through NYFA (New York Foundation of Art) for a one-month residency project named ilham leading an exhibition in Chelsea, New York. In 2014 she was among the five female artists selected from Pakistan for a venture named Colors of Hope an art Exhibition and week long residency at New Delhi in association with Empowerment Ind and International council for cultural relations in India. In 2015 she was invited by one of the mainstream Pakistani Art Gallery in Dubai, for three day based workshop on ‘Meditative Art’ during Art Dubai Festival. Recently her work got selected for Imago Mundi project Pakistan as part of Venice biennial 2017. In her recent achievement, her work got selected for a permanent collection in a Museum of Immigration and empathy in Bursa , Turkey. Over the passage of years she has exhibited her work in countries like USA, UK, Canada, UAE, India, Oman and Turkey with numerous shows Nationally. Her practice is dynamic and experimental with inquiry to various 2D/3D mediums, style and subjects. Her recent works practice is evolving though incorporating technology, installations and site-specific works. Besides her artistic achievements, she has also working as independent curator from last three years. In short span of time she has organized numerous art exhibitions for National/International art galleries, she also curated a collateral exhibition with 41 artists in 2018 for first Lahore biennale. Besides this Mariam also runs her own Drawing and Painting Studio from past eight years.
