Sergio Felipe Serna Herrera

My work deals with social experiences, imaginary products and dreams of my life in which I try to faithfully show all the aspects in which I am involved. This makes my work original and has elements that give it a lot of strength. where I try to represent everything I can think of in an objective way so that it has a wider acceptance I love using visual metaphors and resorting to surealism to be able to create utopian scenarios where in turn I give messages with social and ethical meaning Colombian illustrator and painter Currently my work is inspired by nature, fauna, flora, the union and integration of different elements managed from the theme. I try to show my social environment in a trip of the same, also what my imagination means of surreal elements, I characterize myself by including many elements in a single composition Technique used • traditional painting • Media mix • digital illustration • Line art What is your style so far? My style is an amalgamation of various techniques that have emerged over the years.
Surreal, line, plot and collage. My work goes through different experimentation processes between currents and techniques, taking Colombian fauna and flora as the central axis. Along with original ideas that drive the idiosyncrasy of my environment, I use techniques such as pointillism and linear art in black work, where I want to give a representation of a travel idea of a chosen element, overlapping elements and create an interesting and complex piece .
Regarding painting, I try to use traditional techniques but focusing them on a powerful, avantgarde and highly illustrative design of any idea or concept that I choose. I like to get out of the context of the academic use of line and pattern painting and move on to the experimental, to the lines to collage, to the union of forms and compositions sufficient to achieve quality and representative work, but giving secondary elements such as icons. or subliminals that have a good premise and a solid argument in the painting, which in addition to logic accompanies it in a decorative and functional way.
In my work "Fragile weather"

It is a visual metaphor that addresses aspects of the pandemic and how it is managed in poor places, with vulnerable populations ... the solution to avoid infections may be a mask, but there are other factors such as hunger , inequality, extreme poverty where the use of a mask is the least of the solutions, That is the very essence of this piece .. Show the fragility of a youth without opportunities and of those who do not have a voice in conjunctural moments where they literally have to catch whatever the world gives them.

The normality of hopelessness, of being on the verge of collapse, synthesizes the mask as the supposed need to act in our present day. The issue of the pandemic has hinted at how this world works and its very rules for existing that were once so fragile for some. From this type of work I use visual metaphors together with irony to give strong but forceful messages about my social environment.
