Qualifications:
Graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2010 with a BFA in studio art. Previous to entering college, Nayeli was a member of the National Art Honor Society in her preparatory school, and participated in local art and school competitions within the years of 2002 through 2006. When she was 13th years of age the artist participated in the Salinas Art Contest, an annual local competition in the city of Bastrop, Texas which is held in honor of deceased artist, Porfirio Salinas. At the age of 13th (in 2002) she was a semi-finalist in the Salinas Art Contest. She continued to participate annually, placing the honorable mention in the year 2004, semi-finalist in 2005, and 2nd place in 2006. Additionally she was granted the Salinas Art Scholarship in the year 2006 by the Bastrop Association for the Arts. The same year, she also participated in the Bastrop County’s International Women’s Day Art Competition in which she placed 3rd.
During her time in college, Nayeli worked on commissions for one of her patrons, but dedicated herself mostly to learning and improving her knowledge and technique. She was in the Dean’s List her junior year in college, and graduated with honors in 2010. After college she joined the local artist guild and exhibited her work in the local art gallery for a couple of years. She also was a selling artist in the online art platform artfinder.com. During that time she also donated some of her pieces of work for a fundraiser at her local church. In 2011 she was a featured artist by the American Latino Museum on their facebook page. In 2018 she had her first solo art exhibition at the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Centers. From 2013 till the present time, Nayeli has been leading workshops and art classes at the ESB Mexican American Cultural Center.
